Práter 63
The Hybrid Space
63 Práter Street is the location of the Space of Opportunity, where it offers community activities that are based on the methods of art and democratic pedagogy, welcoming people of all genders and ages.
The events at which learning, experience, and art overlap help the participants discover their resources, interests and skills through the means and methods of experiential learning and participatory art.
Those who come to us can experience the constructive power of community and grow into individuals who are sensitive and committed to social issues. We build an open, inclusive and free environment: a space of previously unrecognised opportunities.
Our Story
Our Story
The organisational background of the Space of Opportunity is the NGO Tranzit Hungary Public Benefit Association (tranzit.hu), a contemporary art programme. tranzit.hu is part of an independent contemporary art network founded in 2002, within which the Hungarian section was founded in 2005. It initiates and serves as a forum for educational, research and publication projects, initiates and maintains international and national collaborations, and considers artistic activity a field of the public sphere, where critical debates and discussions are at the core.
In 2019, tranzit.hu set about creating its own community-based, non-formal learning programme, the Space of Opportunity, with the involvement of artists and cultural experts. The reconstruction works on the community space and event venue at 63 Práter Street in the 8th District (Józsefváros) in the autumn of 2020. Named Práter 63, the space was opened with the participation of five active founding members on 20 September 2021.
Since its opening, the community space has hosted a large number of events, including exhibitions, film screenings, workshops, weekly clubs, jam sessions, art camps and neighbourhood-focused events. The activities provide those who visit the Space of Opportunity with possibilities to learn, relax and have a good time.
