ZOOM IN – Norbert Oláh: Aliens

A public poster campaign in Budapest’s 8th district in November

Duration: 1 – 30 November, 2026
Venue: Joseph boulevard, Budapest (between Blaha Lujza Square and Corvin quarter)

During November, artist Norbert Oláh’s works will occupy the advertising columns along the boulevard in Budapest’s 8th district. The poster campaign is part of tranzit.hu’s long-term public art project ZOOM IN, which addresses issues that are suppressed or barely present in Hungarian public discourse. The posters show Oláh’s pair of paintings depicting young Roma civil rights activists welcoming alien species in an official setting. The scene opens the field for various interpretations, such as through the lens of alienation, identity, hope for change and/or recognition in Hungary’s new political era. As part of the project, interviews with representatives of Roma civic workers will be published on our online platforms, sharing their thoughts on the artworks and beyond.
